Just as ‘They like the sound of their own voice’ is a harsh insult to a person, ‘wordy’ can be a waspish criticism of improv. It speaks of fluffy, imprecise language. Language that gets in the way, stops us from communicating, leaves us further apart. And it’s true that, words can obscure and reduce the emotion, taking the power out of the scene. But, used well, they can power it.

In this six-week course, you will explore how a well-chosen word can give energy and specificity to a scene, filling it with emotion and atmosphere, making it unlike other scenes. You will look at how to reduce the number of words in your scenes and get more precise with the ones that you do use, all the while feeling less self-conscious and more in control of the scene you are playing.

This online class is highly experimental, and recommended for people that have three or more years of regular improv experience. If you are unsure if it is the class for you, drop us an email to jules@andalsoimprov.com

This course is for 6 weeks from 25th April to 30th May, 15:00-17:30 UK time.
