Musical improv is maybe a bit like cheating. \nAvailable in Brighton and Online\, our musical Improv drop ins are for everyone over the age of 18\, from the improv music newbie\, to the twenty-year player. You don’t need any musical improv experience\, or even the ability to sing. Our expert teachers and musician will make you look like lyrical and musical geniuses. No cheating is necessary. \n(NB\, although we do not require it\, some improv experience is advised for this class. DESCRIPTION:What is frustrating and inspiring you in improvisation right now? \nStarting each time from this question\, this course has no syllabus apart from what you bring and what we discover together.  In the past\, focuses have included dialogue\, variety in relationships\, being bold\, structures of scenes and many other things. The aim of this class is to explore how we improvise without a set end goal\, discovering what works and doesn’t for each individual\, making you more flexible and responsive to your partner\, the situation and how you are feeling in the scene. Come do a class of exactly the improv that you want and need right now. \nThis online class is highly experimental\, and recommended for people that have three or more years of regular improv experience. SUMMARY:Break it: Improvisation and Movement
DESCRIPTION:From a haka to a ceilidh to the macarena\, humans love to move in unison and watch others move in unison. It binds and bonds us. As you lose yourself in the activity\, it creates and nurtures a temporary community that thinks together and createe together. It turns individuals into a team. \nIn this workshop\, you will work on ‘yes and’ on a larger scale\, experimenting with how scenes and group expressive movement can emerge naturally from each other. You will explore the rhythm of chaos and order\, of individual and collective that make up organic freeform improvisation. With your team\, you will create a collective instinct that frees individuals from the responsibility of cognitive thought. Scenes\, movement and sound will flow easily and fluidly out of each other\, creating a surreal and unstable landscape\, defined and sustained by the collective awareness of the group. \nThis one-day course includes:\n\nGroups movement – how to make it for everyone\nScenes and characters inspired by physicality\nFluid\, playful editing techniques\nAwareness of the whole space\n\nNote: Although this day will be physical\, it is open to any improviser\, regardless of fitness\, age\, coordination or any other consideration. This class has been taken by wheelchair users and the legally blind. This is not dance. Your level of physical participation is entirely up to you. we welcome anyone. \nOur one-day classes go deep into specific areas of improvisation. Aimed at improvisers with a few years of regular experience\, the skills we work on will feed into your regular improvisation and help you to expand the range and flexibility of your play. These classes are taught by Heather and Jules together.
