We all know a strong move at the start of a scene makes improv easier. It helps your partner to predict and play with you and the audience to enjoy what is happening. But sometimes reusing a choice gets tired and the fun runs out. Maybe it was never a good move in the first place. When does a character become a strait-jacket?  When does making a choice become a curse? As improvisers, we need more better tools than just ‘do it harder’.

In this 6-week course for experienced improvisers, we will examine the balance of repetition and change. How to escalate until something new comes, when to reveal a different aspect of a character and how to not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

This online class is highly experimental, and recommended for people that have three or more years of regular improv experience. If you are unsure if it is the class for you, drop us an email at jules@andalsoimprov.com

This course is for 6 weeks from 12th September to 17th October, 15:00-17:30 UK time.

Please note: This class runs during UK time. Our clocks change on the 27th of October. If you live outside the UK, this may affect the time of your class.

  • Simple instructions that turn out to be very useful. What has seemed complex, inscrutable and hard becomes accessible. You find answers to questions you hadn't thought to ask yet.
    Harvard Henrikson, Molecular Biologist, Norway
  • With Heather and Jules you will try everything in improv, and then, the opposite, and then the same thing, only different. They will change the way you see and do improv (for the better)!
