You’ve put in the hours. You’ve been to courses, read books, listened to podcasts, run jams and played played played. And you feel like you want to give something back. So how do you take the next step and start to teach? What do you want to say? How do you structure a class? What should always be there and what depends on the topic? And how on earth do you describe an exercise clearly?
In this hybrid on- and off-line class, you will be given an introduction to the core skills of teaching improvisation and opportunities to share your experiences. You will also have the opportunity asked to reflect on your own improvisation in order to know what kind of teacher you want to be.
Syllabus includes:
- You as an improviser and teacher: what do you want and what do you have to offer?
- Why, how and what: Briefing an exercise
- What professionalism means: Holding a room, giving instructions and notes
- Holding boundaries and having difficult conversations
- One thing after another: the joy and limits of planning
- Come to my class: writing copy
