There are lots of drama classes available for young people, especially in Brighton. We offer something different for teens who don’t fit the normal stage school mould and want to explore improv and comedy. Whether your child is outgoing or a bit shy, our youth improv classes provide a safe and supportive environment where they can explore their imagination, learn valuable life skills, and make new friends.

What Are Improv Classes for Children and Teens?

At And Also Improv, we believe that improvisation is not just an art form; it’s also brilliant for well-being, self-development and it makes you laugh! We run classes for different age groups, ensuring that all participants, from young children to teens, engage in age-appropriate activities that challenge them while still having tons of fun.

Children's Improvisation (Ages 8-12)

Our children's improvisation classes are designed to introduce the fundamentals of improv through games, exercises, and activities that encourage creative thinking and teamwork. These sessions are perfect for kids who love to play and perform, as well as those who could use a little extra confidence in social situations. Through storytelling, character creation, and spontaneous problem-solving, children learn to express themselves freely and confidently.

Highlights:

  • Fun and engaging improv games
  • Building confidence and social skills
  • Encouraging creativity and quick thinking
  • Perfect for beginners and experienced young performers

Teen Improv Workshops (Ages 13-18)

Teen improv workshops at And Also Improv go deeper into the world of improvisation, offering a more in depth look into the theory and practice of improv as a comedy and theatre performance form. Optional end of term showcases develop their performance skills while building a sense of community. These workshops are designed to be both challenging and supportive, providing a space where teens can experiment, take creative risks, and hone their comedy chops.

Highlights:

  • Advanced improv techniques
  • Focus on teamwork and collaboration
  • Strengthening public speaking and performance skills
  • A great way to meet like-minded peers
  • Discounts for ‘improv field trips’ to see professional performing companies
  • “I was lucky enough to find improv when I was 13. It was the perfect creative outlet. My improv class was a place free from self-consciousness. The whole objective was to support each other's unique impulses. It was an artistic playground, free from putdowns.”
