Looking to boost your confidence and build your spontaneity? Our Introduction to Improvisation Weekend is the perfect way to dive into improv, whether you’re a complete beginner or are looking to refresh your skills. Join us for a weekend of laughter and learning.
Led by one of our expert team, this course will help you think on your feet, make bold choices, and work as a team (even though you only just met!). Over two days, you’ll explore the fundamental improv principle of “Yes, And”—the key to embracing new ideas, building on what’s there, and unlocking creativity onstage and in everyday life.
Our syllabus is carefully structured to develop your ability to think on your feet in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. You don’t have to be funny or imaginative. Whether you want to improve communication, step outside your comfort zone, or simply try something new, just show up and see what happens.
What happens in the class?
Our improv classes are composed of a variety of different exercises. Some are done in pairs or small groups, and some with the whole class. You’ll build stories and scenes, listen to your classmates, and learn to trust your instincts.
I’ve never done any improvisation. Is it only for creative people?
We think that, under the right circumstances, anyone can be creative. So yes, but don’t worry, by being a human, you are the right person and very welcome!
Is this course suitable for people who are shy or nervous?
Absolutely. Improv can help you address these challenges in an authentic and gentle way.
What about people with neurodivergence?
Lots of improvisers are neurodiverse, including some of our teachers! If you have particular things you would like to mention, you can email us before the class. We are used to working with all kinds of brains.
What will the other participants be like?
Our participants come from all sorts of backgrounds and have different reasons for doing improv. So, honestly, we don’t know! Working with different kinds of people is part of the beauty of improv.
Can younger people attend?
These classes are for adults only, but we have classes for 16 to 18-year-olds starting soon!
A whole weekend is a long time! Will there be lots of breaks?
We take a full hour for lunch and other breaks as necessary during the day. We can be flexible! You can also talk to your teacher if you have specific needs.
What is the next step after this weekend?
We hope that this weekend will give you the bug for improvisation and you will want to do a lot more! The next steps are our level 1 classes.
