Scene Better: An Improv Drop-in Class

A musician does their scales, an artist does life drawing, and a tennis player does a thousand serves and volleys. What is the improviser’s equivalent? How do we spend our ten thousand hours? The answer is simple: doing scenes. The building block of an improv show or class, improv scenes are always changing, flexible and fascinating. There are a thousand ways to play them well, but a hundred thousand ways to play them badly. Whether you are aiming to be a professional performer, be part of a team or just keep your mind flexible and responsive, solid scene skills are essential.

Addressing a different element of scenework each week, with lots of opportunities for practice, applicable skills and expert feedback, the AndAlso Scenes Drop-In is your Monday night improv workout. In the company of other dedicated improvisers, you will explore what works and doesn’t and why.

Aimed at those who have at least a year of regular improv practice (level 3 on the AndAlso pathway), these classes expect improvisers to be confident playing scenes and open to receiving feedback and notes.

If there are accommodations that we can make to improve your experience, please email us in confidence at hello@andalsoimprov.com.

General terms and conditions:

  • Our drop-in classes have a minimum of 4 people to ensure a good experience for all participants. If a class has to be cancelled, you will be notified with a minimum of two hour’s notice and a full refund will, of course, be issued.
  • Improv works best when the group is connected, so we ask that participants make every effort to be on time.
  • If you are on an AndAlso course, you can join us at a drop-in with a 50% discount during that time.
  • Cancellation Policy

  • Simple instructions that turn out to be very useful. What has seemed complex, inscrutable and hard becomes accessible. You find answers to questions you hadn't thought to ask yet.
    Harvard Henrikson, Molecular Biologist, Norway
  • With Heather and Jules you will try everything in improv, and then, the opposite, and then the same thing, only different. They will change the way you see and do improv (for the better)!
