Programme content

Before the workshop
Survey of communication challenges This anonymous pre-workshop survey gathers information on your team’s unique challenges and opportunities. This gives a context and specificity to the content of the workshop.
During the workshop: 1) Let’s just say it out loud
It’s easy to suffer in silence, believing that you are the only one. But this is rarely true. To begin this session, we share the survey results and allow participants to discuss their feelings and expectations about speaking in front of groups and building professional networks.
2) Having meaningful conversations
Everyone wants to get to the point, but roles, expectations, culture, and nerves get in the way. In this challenging section, we look at vulnerability and honesty and see how speaking your mind and establishing boundaries can get things done and lead to closer and happier working relationships.
3) Presenting and the biology of nerves
Speaking in front of a group, many of us feel the same things. Dry mouth, damp palms, raised heart rate, a sense that it is harder to think clearly. It’s just simple biology: the effects of adrenaline. During this section, you will learn how nerves work, how to control them and even how to use them to your advantage.
4) Two Simple structures
Humans are creatures of story. We see them as instinctively as we do colour and shape. They have great power to connect and influence. Studying them is a lifetime’s work, but we have boiled it down to two simple structures that anyone can apply quickly and easily.
After the workshop: 5) Next step recommendations and support materials
After the session, we provide a tailored set of recommendations for further training which can include some of the following: Individual coaching sessions Guided conversation sessions for groups Ongoing online practice Fun ‘presentation karaoke’ sessions. After the session, participants are also provided with support materials to help consolidate and practice the skills learned.
