“It was brilliant, and very freeing. Everyone had an awesome time.”
Improv isn’t about being the funniest or loudest person in the room. It’s about being present, working together, and learning to trust yourself.
In these classes, you will:
- Build your confidence on and off the stage
- Learn to listen actively and think on your feet
- Improve your public speaking skills
- Develop your creativity and spontaneity
- Work collaboratively in a no-pressure environment
Not just for drama kids, improv is a great way to unwind, laugh and meet new people from outside of school or college. So whether you want to perform, build your skills or just want a new challenge, improv has something for you.
This programme runs in six-week blocks of ninety-minute classes, but you can always drop in to a single session to try it out. Drop us an email at hello@andlalsoimprov.com if you have any questions.

Improv for Teens – an adult’s guide

At this stage, teens are experiencing major changes – the move into sixth form, preparing for further or higher education and the world of work. We started these classes to share some of the skills we wish we had had at that age.
Our Brighton improv classes help:
- Build confidence and self-awareness
- Practice clear communication and leadership
- Handle uncertainty and adapt quickly
- Strengthen teamwork and empathy
- Develop their voice and presence
These are valuable skills that go well beyond performance, and they stand out on university applications and in personal statements. Improv gives teens space to explore who they are in a creative, supportive setting – no pressure, just permission to play.
“I was lucky enough to find improv when I was 13. It was the perfect creative outlet. My improv class was a place free from self-consciousness. The whole objective was to support each other’s unique impulses. It was an artistic playground, free from putdowns.”
Jenny Haufek – Improv Teacher
Frequently asked questions
Just yourself and maybe a bottle of water. We recommend wearing comfortable clothes that allow for movement, but this is not essential.
No! Our classes are designed for people with no improv or acting experience. We build skills step by step, and everyone is welcome.
It’s completely normal. Improv is all about creating in the moment, and there’s no “wrong” way to do it. Our supportive instructors will guide you, and you’ll be working with a group of like-minded peers (some of whom may also be nervous).
Each class includes a mix of improv games, exercises, and scenes. You’ll build on skills each week, from basic games that get you thinking quickly to more complex scenes. It’s all about having fun, learning through play, and building confidence in a relaxed, non-judgmental environment.
Improv works best when you get to know the people you are working with and build trust. However, you can book a single session to see if it’s the right thing for you.
Lots of people who do (and teach) improv are neurodivergent. We do our best to accommodate everyone, so please tell us what we can do to make your class more comfortable. There is a space on the booking form, and you can also email us in confidence at hello@andalsoimprov.com.
If you can’t make it to one of the sessions, just let us know as early as possible. We’ll help you catch up in future classes.
We keep our class sizes to a maximum of 20 students to ensure everyone gets plenty of attention and the chance to participate.
Improv classes provide great evidence for your UCAS personal statement of key skills like confidence, public speaking, teamwork, and problem solving, all of which are highly valued by universities and can help you stand out during applications and interviews.
