What do I need to take an online improv class?
You don’t need complicated equipment to take part in our online classes, but we do ask for the following for the best experience of all of our students:
- A laptop or tablet with a camera and a microphone. The native ones are normally fine, though you can of course use an external one for better quality.
- Zoom. This is a simple and stable video conferencing platform we use for our classes. You can download it from here. We do not recommend using it in the browser.
- Lighting. We need to see you! A window, lamp, or overhead lighting will usually do the trick. Lighting in front of you avoids you being in silhouette.
- A private room. Our classes are highly interactive, so to feel confident and free, you will need to be somewhere where you will not be interrupted.
- A stable internet connection. We recommend a minimum of 10 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload (pretty low for broadband). This speed check is quick and reliable.
