Charlie is an actor, improviser and creative facilitator who blends classical training with joyful chaos. He brings a global perspective and a deep love of play to every room he works in.
Charlie began his improv career in 2010 with The Big HOO-HAA! in Melbourne, later co-founding The Improv Conspiracy and the musical improv hit Impromptunes. He also performed with Impro Melbourne, Soothplayers, and the critically acclaimed mimed improv show Quiet Achievers—hailed as “a master of improvisation… a leading force in Melbourne’s improvised comedy world” (Herald Sun).
After years teaching and performing with the Australian Shakespeare Company and NIDA, Charlie moved to London to complete an MA in Classical Acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, writing his dissertation on Elizabethan improvisation. He now performs with The Free Association, Impromptu Shakespeare, and has headlined shows at Hoopla and The Nursery.
Charlie has trained with The Second City, UCB, The Groundlings, and teachers from iO. His teaching style is both rigorous and riotous—encouraging creative mischief while grounding students in techniques that support confident, skilled performance.
Favourite improv moment: Performing a Shakespearean scene with no script, no plan, and one half of a broken lute—only to have the audience convinced they’d stumbled into a lost folio.
