
Jules is an experienced improviser, director, and facilitator who combines deep expertise in longform improv with a passion for creative team development.
He began improvising at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and went on to co-found The Nursery, where he served as Artistic Director for over a decade. In that role, Jules ran both the theatre and the company’s house teams, as well as designing and delivering corporate training programmes. He also co-created Slapdash, London’s first international improv festival.
Jules is one of the founding directors & Head of Studies at AndAlso Improv & continues to perform with The Maydays, including their acclaimed touring show Happily Never After, and was the director of the original run of Impromptu Shakespeare.
As a teacher and coach, Jules specialises in scenework, team dynamics, and classic longform structures such as the Harold, Deconstruction, and Armando. His facilitation style is experimental and boundary-pushing, encouraging participants to explore new possibilities and challenge their creative limits.
Favourite improv moment: Watching a group of first-time improvisers spontaneously discover a shared rhythm that carried a scene to an unexpected and powerful conclusion.
